Penguin Project - Day 11

It's day 11 of Penguin Project.... so they decided to add a treat Daddy to a cookie for his snack at the office. So they put t gingerbread cookie in the tin and hid it in his briefcase so he would find it later on.

Hope the snack was good and the gingerbread man could not run fast! We can't wait till tomorrow...

Penguin Project - Day 10

Well we are up to day #10! Today we kinda hid the pengies so that they were not easily found... Daddy has his coffee in a canister on the shelf above the stove, so today's 'attack' penguins replaced said canister with a new one. (that matches the coffee cup pengies that came last year)

It took him a few minutes to realize that his can was replaced and he even thought that the pengies changed his coffee brand. They were not that smart... next time maybe they will!

15 days left.... who knows what else they have up their sleeves :)

Penguin Project - Day 9

The outdoor decorations needed a 'foreman' and this little guy decided to come visit us and help direct the project.

His position of honor on the bills pile does mean that he is next for a payment as well.... Just kidding, we love you and would come visit even if you tried to bribe us to stay away!

Penguin Project - Day 8

The penguins felt that daddy was in need of some fun... so they provided this helpful toy for him to play with.

Now remember it is a toy and not a Penguin Paddle, no using it on penguins or people!

Penguin Project - Day 7

Today is Mom & Dad's 11th Anniversary so a special treat was called for, coffee and cinnamon muffins in bed! (well for Daddy anyway)

But the pengies were assisting in most of the phases of the breakfast and there were 11 pengies on the breakfast tray.

Pengies on the muffin cups, placemat, plate, napkin, coffee mug and drink glass filled with his favorite peanuts (hint...pengies LIKE peanuts, at least here)

So far nobody has had ideas for us :( come on I know some of you WANT to play... leave us some comments on how to 'torture' Daddy with more pengies... oh and if any of you run across gummy penguins at a gas station in the area, let us know, we forgot where we found them last time.

penguin Project - Day 6

It's a cold Saturday, perfect for sleeping late under the covers... Guess what showed up to cuddle with Daddy this morning?

a cuddly pengie pillow with a bell on his hat! Not a super sleeper but very cute! Tomorrow we plan on a fun surprise for Mom & Dad's 11th Anniversary (though mom is helping with it)

Penguin Project - Day 5

It's Friday and Daddy thought he outsmarted them by putting the first few in "jail" in the kitchen, but....

He and Mom had a PUG meeting so one silly 'bonus' penguin was able to sneak into his briefcase at the office before heading to the the meeting and...

Once he got home today's penguin 'Pic' was waiting for him hanging on the lamp by his bed!

so maybe this will teach him.... wonder what the weekend will bring?

Penguin Project - Day 4

It's Day 4 and "Shade" & "Shady", some of the more purposeful penguins destined to be part of the project, appeared on the dashboard of the car before Daddy headed to work this morning.

Unfortunately today is gray, overcast and rainy, so they will have to wait a bit before being useful and before we can get a decent picture of them in use :)

Penguin Project - Day 3

This morning we decided to be nice and there was a pretty penguin named Coco (who was hiding some candy and a note) sitting on the nightstand for Daddy to find this morning.

But upon coming into the kitchen we found that the pengies from the last 2 days were....

IN JAIL!?!?!?!

That is not very nice and it may have some bearing on tomorrow's gift

Day two, the arrival of "Wendy" who showed up on the coffee canister in the kitchen and caused a sleepy Daddy to scream as it fell onto the counter scaring him.

Penguin Project - Day 1

Well... last year Mom & I did the 12 days of penguins to 'torture' daddy... this year it is "The Penguin Project: 25 Days of Pengu"

We are late getting the blog posts up because mom was busy with client projects, but here is the first of the gang that arrived with Daddy's coffee on December 1st.

This is Bruce & Barley they are a father-daughter team that like to explore....

Stay tuned for the rest of the days and please give us ideas for some of them if you want.

Thanksgiving Photo Shoot

We went to Virginia to visit my Aunt & Uncle. Mom & Dad took my cousin Casey and my brother Colin out for a photo shoot and I tagged along. Here are my favorites that I took and edited from the session. This is my first slideshow and I am so excited...

This was my first official photo shoot. My parents were going to a photo shoot and asked me to go. I said yes and decided to take some pictures. These are my favorite pictures of the set.

Over the weekend we found these in the oak tree behind our house. Mom helped me look them up on the internet and I took pictures and wrote this report for extra credit at school.

Orange Striped Oakworm

The Oakworm's latin name is Anisota Senatoria.

The adult moths emerge from the ground to mate in late spring. They are poor flyers. You often find them climbing up oak trees. The females lay up to 500 eggs in clusters on the underside of the oak leaves. The eggs hatch 1-2 weeks after they are laid. They usually hatch in late June. Soon there will be an army that is hungry and feast on leaves from July to October stripping the trees of leaves.

In October they start digging 3-4 inches into the ground to spin a coccoon and spend the winter turining into a moth. When they turn into moths, they are yellow with white spots on the wings.

The oakworm is 55mm long and is black in color with 4 yellow-orange stripes running the length of the body. They have short spines portruding from the sides of the body and short black antennae.

Mom helped me catch one and I took it to school to show the kids. Keirra named it "Bob" and we kept it in the bug jar till late in the day when we let it go on an oak tree near the playground. Did you know that caterpillars poop? Well these do and it looked like little black balls.
